The Mendrisio Music Festival is inspired by the principles of the international event Fête de la Musique. An event that originated in France in 1981 and has become a phenomenon involving numerous cities all over the world. In June, at the beginning of summer, music is celebrated in these cities with free concerts and musical performances.

The Mendrisio Music Festival takes up this value of free access to musical culture, offering free quality performances in which multiple realities of the regional, national and international music scene perform.

The event, which is open to all, is designed to engage all types of audiences through an offering that includes the greatest number of musicians and musical genres. Thus, the Festival is an opportunity to create a free artistic language and rediscover the pleasure of being together.

The Mendrisio Music Festival was born in 2014 and since then has been bringing more than two hundred artists to the town's squares and streets, knowing, edition after edition, an ever-increasing success in terms of audience and acclaim.

Through its features, the Music Festival also aims to contribute to the promotion of Mendrisio's historic core with its charming streets and places, through an event that aims to rediscover the pleasure of living together through good music.
